Welcome to the Community Pantry at Newmarket Racing Centre a place where dignity, choice, and support come together to help individuals and families facing financial hardship.
We are a community-led initiative offering affordable access to food and essential household items. For just £3 per shop, members can select a range of groceries each week – helping ease the strain of household budgeting without compromising their dignity.
Unlike traditional food banks, the Community Pantry gives people the freedom to choose the items they need, just like in a regular shop. This model promotes independence and respects each individual’s right to make their own choices helping to maintain self-worth during difficult times.
We’re more than just a place to shop. The Pantry also serves as a hub for support and connection. We offer referrals to local charities and partner organisations that can help with housing, mental health, financial advice, and more ensuring our members can access a wider network of assistance.
Our mission is simple: to support people in our community who are experiencing financial pressure – whether due to low income, job loss, unexpected expenses, or other challenges. We believe everyone deserves access to affordable food in a way that is respectful, welcoming, and non-judgmental.
£3 per shop: Each weekly shop costs £3, which helps cover the cost of stock and keeps the Pantry running.
£5 membership fee: A one-time membership fee helps support our operational costs and ensures continued access to Pantry services.
Referrals welcome: We also accept referrals from local organisations, community leaders, and support services.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of local donors, volunteers, and supporters. Whether you're seeking help or looking to give back, the Community Pantry is a place where everyone is valued.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive community one shop at a time.
